A Look Back at Blue Day 2015! PDF Print E-mail

What a brill Blue Day that was! A MASSIVE thank you to all those that got involved!

Blue Day 2015 was held on Friday 1 May. Schools and businesses throughout the city got involved. People pulled on blue clothes, wigs and facepaint to get into the Blue Day spirit! Lots of other fundraising activities took place as well to boost the amount raised, there were raffles, blue cakes sales, and all sorts!

Around 80 schools and organisations took part; it was great to see lots of familiar names signing up to support us again, and also new names jumping on-board the Blue Day bus!

The Spinnaker Tower's lights went blue, hundreds of school kids dug out their blue clothes, and the Thatched House ordered a bouncy castle for the big day!

Our merry band of Trust volunteers sold cupcakes and Porsche raffle tickets in the Guildhall and Palmerstone Road on Blue Day, and shook collection buckets at Fratton Park on Saturday 2 May - ahead of PFC's last home game of the season.

Congratulations to the winner of our Blue Day Porsche competition! It was a new attraction this year and we sold 200 tickets! Thank you to everyone that brought a ticket and to Porsche Portsmouth for donating such a wonderful prize. We hope the lucky winner has fun in the car! Click here for more information.

This year was the ninth Blue Day. Each year it is is run in conjunction with Portsmouth Football Club and The News.

Blue Day is all about the people of Portsmouth coming together to have a day of fun, whilst supporting this great local charity. Blue Day celebrates the city and also Portsmouth Football Club.

The first Blue Day was held in April 2008 in celebration of Portsmouth Football Club reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup. It has become the Trust's biggest annual fund-raiser; so far all the Blue Day events combined have raised a staggering total of around £239,000!

The newspaper had photographers running around the city to catch all the action - check out the photo gallery on The News website - perhaps you will spot a familiar face or two! There is also a series of videos featuring some of the different organisations that took part. Check out our Facebook page to see some photos from Blue Day, and there is also a selection of articles from the lead up to the big day on The News site.

Everyone certainly looked like they were enjoying Blue Day in the photos, and there were some lovely comments in the interviews. The Trust is so grateful to those that put their energy into supporting Blue Day - and love that it has become an annual event for lots of local businesses!

Thank you

Thank you to everyone that got involved with Blue Day; seeing the city go blue in support of the Trust is a wonderful feeling! Every cupcake sold and every penny raised goes straight into the research fund and helps us take a step closer to reaching our £1million target.
